The smallest and most affordable hatchback from Perodua, the Axia, is one of the main reasons responsible for putting up Perodua in a prominent position. The little hatchback, like its other siblings, is a rebadged version of a Japanese car – the Toyota Aygo, in this case. While the styling in and out is nothing much to write about, Perodua has managed to equip the Axia with some modern features in order to appeal to a younger set of buyers. The Perodua Axia comes with one single engine option – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces a maximum power output of 68 PS and a peak torque output of 91 Nm. A 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox are the transmission options for the Axia, with both the versions delivering class-leading fuel economies. While the manual version returns 22.5 kmpl, the automatic version gives 22.7 kmpl.
